Attached you will find Guylhelm's reply to my query about the
performance quirks I've experienced with Afterstep. He has been having
problems due to a bad e-mail address and asked me to forward this on to
the list.
It seems a lot of the problems are being addressed in Pre7... great to
hear, because I'm still not concrete on using Afterstep. Being a
relative newbie to Linux I often just try out software... it takes great
(see: stable, customisable, efficient) software for me to stick with it
or come back to it.

Hi !
Your problem looks like a memory leak : AS size growth little by little until
it's too big to be efficient.
It's slow, crashes...
Michael Vitecek is fixing this kind of problems in pre1.5 serie ; I should
upload a pre7 version soon.
It's very stable with very few memory leaks. (thanks a lot Michael !)
And he's going to send us new patches soon, so I think pre7 will be quite
usable for "production" by end users.
PS : please forward this to AS mailing list, I've some problems with it
(basically, I'm subscribed to it with a currently bad address.
