I just switched from AS-1.0 to AS-1.4.5.1. Interestingly, when I patched
from 1.4.5.1 to 1.4.5.3 I was missing iconbg.h. Couldn't find it anywhere
in the source dist, so I gave up and dropped back to 1.4.5.1. That's
beside the point though.
1) I'm trying to get back the "hot keys" for entries on the start menu. I
finally accomplished this by renaming directories and files under the start
directory. For instance, to give the "Quit" menu the hot key "q", I
renamed the Quit directory "Quit &Q". This worked. But, when I wanted to
put an "Exit" option on the main menu with hot key "x", I created the file
"Exit &X" in the subdirectory "start" and put the line:
Quit "Exit &X"
inside the file. When I bring up the start menu and hit "x", I get the
following error:
exec: Quit: not found
Hints?
2) I tried the ascd program that came with this dist. I really like it,
but I have one serious reservation. While playing a cd I notice continuous
hard drive activity. There are other cd players that don't do this
(xplaycd for one). I'm concerned about unecessary disk wear. Can whoever
wrote this app, fix it so that it doesn't hit the disk so hard? I won't
use it as is.
3) Is there a way to determine what look and what feel I'm currently
using?
4) I'm consistently getting the following error on start up.
AfterStep: error in config: AudioPath /usr/share/afterstep/desktop/sounds
in line AudioPath /usr/share/afterstep/desktop/sounds
What's going on there? I can't figure it out.
That's it for now.
