Newbie problems with asclock and F5 function key

I recently installed RedHat 5.0 Linux and AfterStep 1.0 (I got the AfterStep
rpm from the most recent Caldera Lite cdrom). Everything seems to work fine
except for two irritating problems:

	1. The time in the wharf clock is always 6 hours ahead of the
correct local time. (By coincidence or not, this incorrect time
also happens to be GMT.) This problem does not occur with the
default window manager (fvwm2). Also, the shell command "date"
	shows the correct local time.

	2. When I run emacs, function key F5 always iconifies the window,
no matter how the key is actually bound in emacs. Again, this
	does not happen with fvwm2.

Any help with these problems will be greatly appreciated.
