Afterstep Newbie, cannot find ../start/terminal

Hi everyone,

I am new to AfterStep.  I just got version 1.4.6 to compile on my 
x86-Solaris 2.6 system.  To do so, I needed to prevent out some of 
applications to be made (astuner among others). It is normal?
Secondly, I am unable to launch the AfterSterp window manager.
It tries to start and then tells me that it cannot find
~/GNUstep/Library/Afterstep/start//terminal
I am unable to diagnose the problem, but I know that there are some files
in this directory named "X terminal..."
What is AfterStep trying to do?  What can I do to solve this problem?

Any help is appreciated.  Thanks in advance.
