Hi everyone, I figured out answers to some of my questions, so I thought
I'd let people in for future reference:

1) xdm crashes on logout from AS why? A: Not an AS problem. I
installed Xbanner over my RH base install which already had XBanner.
Problem is, RH must hard-code elements (backgrounds etc.) into its
version -- the two are incompatible and will core dump on logout.
Solution: Remove one or the other.

2) Poor gfx performance on R128 AGP. why? A: XF863.3.2-14's
Xconfigurator auto-detects the R128 and sets the default color depth to
32bit. This is way beyond what the XF86Server can do for this card -
Set the default color depth to 16bit (which is really 15bit due to
forced driver hack-release your API's people!) Also use nxterm instead
of xiterm. Reason: my gfxperf(x windows performace meter) scores on
xiterm vs nxterm show 342ms vs. 14ms. Thats a difference! Anyone know
why xiterm is so slooooow?

Now my question for the day:

Where do I set up the menu entries for START -> (anything). I looked
all over my /usr/share/afterstep/ directory and can't find it. Also,
how do I setup the default window placement of the wharf (instead of the
lower right corner)

cheers,

sean

ps - my next project is get AS up on my OCTANE here at work...that'll
really blow people away :)
