Yeah, go get xfstt. I installed it...it's damn easy to use. I have my
system mount one of my Windows partitions (my Win98 one, to be exact) on
bootup and mount it at /fat, so I just set up xfstt so that its font dir
is /fat/windows/fonts and all is kosher. I haven't tried it with the GIMP
yet, but I've heard that the FAQ covers this in great detail. The area
where it seems to benefit me the most is just using Netscape...there seem
to be so many pages out there where the idiot who wrote the HTML code
designed it so that it looks like crap in a bag without the TrueType fonts
that he specified; this helps a lot. The fonts aren't anti-aliased (I've
read that X's font scheme would have to be entirely redesigned for this to
be possible), but it's a definitely improvement, and takes maybe a whole
minute to get installed and working 100%. Give it a try...
