Desktops...

I have a minor problem with the desktop arrangement.  I don't want to run
Pager.  Yet, unless I do, I can't set the background with the built in
startmenu Pictures directory, correct?  I know that I can run Pager 0 0 in
the autoexec but this still causes the dumb Pager thing to show up.  All I
want is the desktop...  Is there a way of fixing this?
