All of the information for that application to compile should be in the
default directory of the source. You shouldn't need to have it in the same
folder as your kernel source. Device drivers for the app?? When I untar
files I always run it as:
tar zxvfp <filename>
That should preserve it so that you can compile without any problems. If you
have problems, run the make command without dependencies; that won't let the
compile error out because it couldn't link something etc.... You should be
able to do it from there.
