.workspace_state is used by the /usr/share/afterstep/autoexec file and it
essentially will save your desktop setttings everytime you log out and
start your AS exactly as it was according to the .w_s file. If you like
that, then you could leave the autoexec as it is, but if you'd rather use
your .xinitrc everytime you start your AS, then you should modify it so.
