Re: About afterstep 1.4...

I am running a 486dx266 that's not that slow. It's _definitely_ faster
than Windows! (Especially NT, which I dual boot into about once a month.
Actually, since I got another HDD, I never boot into it, I don't have LILO
set up to!) X could be a little better at resource management, but it's
okay. I wouldn't say you need to upgrade your hardware for a while. It's
no problem for me, unless I'm trying to play Quake or something, or
high-quality mpg files. One thing, though, Windows knows AVI files better
than any other program (they're M$'s) and hence xanim doesn't play them
nearly as well, but there are reasons for that.
Sorry _lots_ for getting off topic... I wish I had something AfterSteppy
to say. Well, just that AS is the best WM I've seen (well, one of -- FVWM
(not 2 or 95) is the best, but it doesn't have as many nifty features),
ICEWM, KWM, Enlightenment, WindowMaker, et al., don't compare, though
ICE and E's themes are pretty cool. Also, tvtwm and vtwm are cool. Again
_sorry_ for getting off topic, I'm just a windbag. Or whatever one might
care to translate that into computerese as.

The primary purpose of the DATA statement is to give names to
constants; instead of referring to pi as 3.141592653589793 at every
appearance, the variable PI can be given that value with a DATA
statement and used instead of the longer form of the constant. This
also simplifies modifying the program, should the value of pi change.
