Sean,

I just installed afterstep myself 2 days ago. And I was at a loss to find the
same information you are looking for. I finally went to:
ayuda.com/~smw/afterstep/configs/index.html

This is the same place Michal Vitecek mentioned in his message. It is any
excellent place to get the starting information. After reading through his
pages for about 10 minutes, found out that the New Afterstep is so much easier
to configure.

As an example, I went to /usr/share/afterstep and there is the exact files
that was mentioned in the above page. I went into the start director,
created a
new dir called "HotItems" and added a simple text file called FileRunner. In
this file I place the command "fr &" and rebooted Xwindows. To my suprise the
left click of the mouse button came up with the popup menu and there was
"HotItems", clicked on it and there was "FileRunner". Clicked on that one and
Filerunner came up on the screen. That was to easy.

Also in the same directory /usr/share/afterstep OR according to the page, you
can create the custom folder in your home dir as /GNUstep/Library/ etc.... and
edit the wharf file to suit you needs. Very simple and more intuitive than the
old .steprc file.

I am very impressed with Afterstep and glad I installed it now. Makes things
so much easier. Hope this helps you and others new to Afterstep.....
