start text colour

hiya,
can i change the colour of the "start" text? i've tried all the
configs, and changed all the colours i can, and it seems to want to be
any colour you want as long as it's white. am i blind?
how can i put space around the text on a titlebar? currently i'm using
a modified macos8 look, and the text on the textured titlebar annoys
the hell out of me. i've set it to 3d text with the 3d colours being
the background colour, but this gives 1 a strange titlebarpush
effect and wraps around the text (as designed :) ... what i'd like is
a plain rectangle to wrap the text in. (could someone outline exactly
how the 3d text works to me please?)
love the new afterstep! just upgraded this week after much tense
waiting :) ... however, i just want to say the new GNUstep arrangement
is a bit more work (IMO), particularly cos i like to share pixmap dirs
between machines. oh well ... the default configs are very good - lots
of default stuff which is commented out in there - although I choked
when i logged back in and found items like "Notepad" and friends in my
"Start" menu. i guess this is a tactic to make the hordes of
ms-refugees more at home? ;) also, i'm expecting the GNUstep layout
will make things easier for a GUI configurator, so i can spare the
inodes for now.
cheers!
