First of it, I think the proper command is "rpm -ivh <package name>.rpm,
but if it installed fine then let's forget about it.

Secondly, you might wanna take a look at your .xinitrc.  Have as your last
line in it as "exec afterstep".  And also take a look at your
/usr/share/afterstep/autoexec and modify it so that it executes your
.xinitrc parameters instead of your G/L/A/.workspace_state.

Lastly, the whole point of using an rpm is that it'll take care of all the
worries you mentioned below.  Have fun!
