afterstep configuration

Thanks to Gordon and Steve I finally managed to get the real afterstep (as
opposed to RH's FVWM2 hack) running.
I wandered around for some time looking at all the cool new features I
have at my disposal but for some reason I can't see anything on my wharf
bar except for asclock. I have looked around for documents which explain
the GNUstep/Library/AfterStep directory, only stuff on .steprc

- How can I deal with the immediate problem of my wharf bar?
- Where can I find more detailed documentation on afterstep in general and
the init files in particular?
