Some menu ideas

I've just got two ideas I'd like to throw out and see what people think:

Firstly, I'm vaguely annoyed that I don't have much control over how the
items in the menu are sorted. Personally, I don't want all the directories
first, and neither date nor alphabetical order are really good for me. I'd
like to have the Quit menu at the bottom no matter what, for a start.

To that end, the best I can think of is to allow names like 00_xxx, and
when constructing the menu removing the leading ##_... It's kinda ugly,
but allows a fair amount of control. If those names are used, we can just
default to current behavior.

The second, and far more interesting: What about a mechanism to run a
command before the menu is constructed. For example, someone could write a
script file to parse out their ~/.netscape/bookmarks.html file and create
entries so that their bookmarks would actually be under their regular
menu.

That's just one example, and I'm not sure it is a good one. But you get
the idea... I think that this sort of flexibility could be pretty handy.

Anyway, do people agree with me, have better mechanisms, or perhaps good
reasons why these ideas *shouldn't* be implemented?
