Re: Virtual Window > Physical Window

Don't know about the freezing stuff, but the first one is not too bad. To
turn of the X server's virtual window stuff, edit your XF86Config file,
found in one (only one, hopefully) places: /etc, /etc/X11, somewhere in
/var that I don't remember. do all of this as root. Near the bottom,
you'll have the "Screen" section. This is where they configure which of
the defined video modes are available for a particular X server (the X
server is the XF86_SVGA, XF_S3, or whatever, in /usr/X11/bin, that is
started when you run "startx" or whatever to start X). There should be a
line "Virtual" for each configured X server, I think (I've never seen a
config without, but that doesn't mean it has to be there!). Virtual takes
to parameters, the width and height of the virtual desktop. Making the
virtual size the same as the actual screen size for the videomode you want
to use will work. However, you won't be able to run any videomodes that
are too large for the virtual screen.

2 things: 1) the "Virtual" entry is optional, I just did a "man
XF86Config". 2) If someone knows how to make the virtual screen be the
same size as the physical screen for _all_ videomodes, please let me know!

hope this helps.
