My suggestion: allow shading of aterm background pixmaps.  This allows 
normally light backgrounds to be used within an aterm, plus it's a really 
easy change to implement.  I've attached the patch to 0.3.4 that I use.

I also created a nifty script to display a slideshow of images in an 
aterm background.  If anyone would like this script, I'd be glad to post 
or private email it.
