hello guys,
tonight Gafton (_HackMan_ (gafton@alien.devel.redhat.com) joined
#afterstep and suggested a change he'd like to do to the start menus.
i'll write the patch for it - it won't eat me that much time because it's
not a big thing. but ...
we really need to release beta4 till this weekend so he can press betas
of RH 5.2 with AS on them!!! isn't that GREAT? yeah! we'll gain more
publicity again! we need to work really effectively though to be able to
finish it in time....
if u don't mind, i'd be so bold to ask u to try to do those things
(i'll spend enough my time writing the patch for the menus, and i planned
to study all weekend!). anyway.
m o new directory /usr/share/afterstep/fixed-menus in which would be menu
items that could be overwritten by the local user start menu but only
if there's the same item name in ~/G/L/A/start (for example menu 'Quit'
will be there). /usr/share/afterstep/start will be as it is. and would
be (wholy) overwritten by the local configuration. the existence of
/u/s/a/f would just make AS be more bullet-proof for lusers.
? o the configure script should be made non-interactive (Gafton asked to do
it as well) (i heard u did 99% of it already, ethan).
? o the APPS package could be fixed a bit - i dont know whta problems are
there but it might be a good idea to improve their install/possible
problems.
? o the keyboard menu control for shortcuts doesn't work properly. the
item is not executed, just highlighted without prior unhighlighting
the old one.
? o when pressing a button (close/kill/shade/stick/iconize/maximize) and
moving the pointer while still holding the button pressed onto another
window, the function is applied to the other window.
? o existence of some items in the menu - is Update Look/Feel needed?
maybe the menu could be reworked/updated in some way?
? o packing the whole thing together thus making beta4 and apps 1.5beta4.
^ those are the bugs/things that could/should be done possibly until this
weekend. we MUST do as much as possible. please mail me or notify me
otherwise when in need. but don't load that much on me - i *should*
study instead, if i don't pass the exam i'm kicked off the uni :/
please mail each other ASAP with things u could fix/change/add so we
can effectively work. i hope u don;t mind i chosed one task already.
