Hi!

Although the mail for ftpmaster has been redirected to me, Ed hasn't
yet gotten back to me for changing over the DNS for
ftp.afterstep.org. Last I heard from him he was going to be moving,
then he'd switch the DNS when he got back. (That was over a month ago)

Between the last time I talked to Ed, and now, I've also picked up an
additional 20 hours a week worth of work. (Hmmm, "picked up" makes it
seem so much like it isn't under duress... :) (On top of managing
campus-wide backups, and our campus-wide distributed file system,
someone decided I needed to do some security work for the labs as
well. Grr.)

I think it might be best if I bowed out of this for now. Even if the
ftp was switched over today, there are going to be problems with
remote management of the ftp. The best place for me to put the FTP is
into our AFS cell. Unless, the remote maintainer happened to be
running AFS at thier site, the authenication becomes a problem. (Due
to the nature of some of the research kept in AFS, and due to some
recent large scale attacks we've had... :( )

So, to make a long story short, I'll talk to Bean and see if she has
the time to mirror the web/ftp and pester Ed, so that the (long
overdue) updates to the ftp site can happen.

Sorry about the delay in getting this back to you... (Oh, after
reading the afterstep list, I never did receive the other message you
mentioned, could it have been around the time Ed was switching the
MX's?)
