Ukraine will increase production of weapons to meet the needs of military personnel, announced the president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko after a meeting with the security forces in Slavyansk last week, according to a statement on the website of the President.
According to Poroshenko, the management of defense procurement and production “will fully utilize the experience that Ukrainian Armed Forces and National Guard received during their fighting in the east.”
“No more spending billions of people’s money, taxpayers’ money on useless scientific research programs that served only as a target of theft,” – said the president.
Poroshenko noted that Ukrainian manufacturers will receive orders for precision weapons systems, drones and “everything that Ukrainian army needs, ranging from body armor to thermal imaging.” According to the President, the army will become “effective, mobile, professional.”
Poroshenko presented the new CEO of “Ukroboronprom” Roman Romanov on July 4. The President then said that he expects from Romanov effective cooperation, which will, in particular, greatly enhance the profitability of the state owned concern and to provide the armed forces with high-quality weapons.
Ukrainian leader expressed the conviction that the so-called “anti-terrorist operation” in the east will lead not only to a victory but also to the creation of new types of weapons that have passed “the test of fire”.
