Donetsk authorities refused to recognize the temporary truce declared by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. The corresponding decree was signed by the commander of the militia of Donetsk Republic Igor Strelkov and published on the Facebook page of Donetsk Governor Pavel Gubarev.
“The truce unilaterally declared by the Ukrainian military without any consultation with us will not be recognized,” – said the statement.
In addition, the statement noted the victims of the shoot-out, which occurred on the night of Sunday, June 22, near the village of Octiabrskoe: three Ukrainian servicemen dead and another 15 were injured. On the part of the militia one man was wounded in the arm.
Poroshenko presented his plan for a peaceful settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine on Friday, May 20. According to him, during the week from 20 to 27 June, Ukraine suspends military operation in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. Ukrainian leader offers that militias lay down their arms during this period, promising not to prosecute those who do so voluntarily, under the condition that they did not commit serious crimes. Simultaneously, the plan envisages the establishment of the Russian-Ukrainian border corridor for refugees.
However, Poroshenko threatened that if a peaceful development will not be possible, there is an alternative plan, details of which the president did not disclose.
The Governor of the Donetsk region Pavel Gubarev offered his own peace plan to resolve the conflict in southeastern Ukraine.
The first item in the plan is the withdrawal of all Ukrainian troops from the territory of Donetsk and Lugansk Republics. In addition, Kiev is required to recognize the Donetsk and Lugansk Republics, as well as to create conditions for a referendum on self-determination in other eastern regions.
“And two additional points: first – Kolomoysky (governor of Dnepropetrovsk region Igor Kolomoisky), Avakov (Interior Minister Arsen Avakov) and Ljashko (Radical Party leader Oleg Lyashko) voluntarily surrender to the militia forces. Second – Akhmetov (businessman Rinat Akhmetov) returns everything he stole from people, packs his hand luggage and leaves the country for good, “- wrote Gubarev.
The Kremlin has called the peace plan proposed by Poroshenko an “ultimatum” and stressed that it lacks the main point – the proposal to start negotiations.
